Transfer Station closed on all Federal Holidays

Cost of Trash is based on the size of the bag:

Up to 14 gallons $2.00
15 gallons to 30 gallons $4.00
Over 30 gallons $8.00

Town of St. Armand Recycling Guide

 

This is not a Zero Sort Facility – you must sort your own recycling

 All Recycling must be sorted by the following categories:

GLASS – There is a separate metal container at the Transfer Station for all Glass

Acceptable items:  Clear, brown and green glass bottles and jars only

Must be empty and clean

Remove lids and caps

labels and neck rings okay

don’t crush or break

NO ceramics, dishes, drinking glasses or mugs, light bulbs, window glass, mirrors, crystal, Pyrex or laboratory glass   

Do not put bags in the glass bin, they must be loose

 

#1 PLASTIC – This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  Must have the # 1 recycle symbol on the bottom.

Empty and clean, remove lids and caps

Do not put bags in the bins, they must be loose

NO motor oil, pesticide or plastic bags, 5 gallon buckets or mop pails

 

#2 through #6 PLASTIC – There is a metal container at the Transfer Station, half for tin and half for plastics #2 – #6

Acceptable items:  Must have the #2, #3, #4, #5 or #6 recycle symbol on the bottom.

Empty and clean, remove lids and caps

Do not put bags of recycling in the bin, they must be loose

NO motor oil, pesticide or plastic bags, 5 gallon buckets or mop pails

 

TIN & ALUMINUM CANS There is a metal container at the Transfer Station, half for tin and half for

plastics #2 – #6

Acceptable items:  Food and beverage cans, pet food cans, TV dinner trays, pie tins, aluminum foil, empty aerosol cans and empty, clean and dry paint cans

Empty and clean.

NO propane cylinders, scrap metal, paint cans with more than a thin, dry layer of paint

 

NEWSPAPER -This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  Newspaper only

Clean and dry, inserts okay

NO string

NO bags

Must be loose

 

MAGAZINES AND CATALOGS– This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  Magazines and catalogs only

Must be clean and dry

NO string

NO bags

Must be loose

Recycle other paper items separately

 

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD This is sorted and put into the back of the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  Cardboard with the ridged center and brown paper grocery bags

Must be clean and dry

No bags

All boxes must be flattened

NO waxed or plastic coated boxes

NO box board

NO pizza boxes

NO “yellow” cardboard or manila envelopes

 

OFFICE PAPER AND JUNK MAIL -This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items: White or colored copy paper, loose leaf paper, legal paper, fax and adding machine paper, envelopes, manila file folders, checks and forms, index and business cards, junk mail

Must be clean and dry

NO spirals or 3 ring binders

NO food wrappers

NO carbon paper or paper ream wrappers

NO cigarette wrappers

NO paper plates or paper cups

NO toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls

NO tissue paper, toilet paper or paper towels

 

BOX BOARD -This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  Single layer paper boxes – cereal, cake mix, pasta, detergent, shoe boxes, facial tissue

Must be clean and dry

Must be flattened

NO metal or plastic of any kind

NO waxed boxes, plastic or foil coated boxes

NO milk or juice boxes

 

PHONE BOOKS AND PAPERBACK BOOKS -This is sorted and put into a large cardboard box in the separate, large recycling trailer with the paper products

Acceptable items:  All white or yellow page phone books and paperback books

Must be clean and dry

NO hardcover books

NO magazines

NO catalogs

 

SCRAP METAL– There is a separate metal container at the Transfer Station for all Scrap Metal

Acceptable items:  Regular scrap metal only

Must be under 10-foot in length

NO large appliances

NO appliances of any size with any form of Freon gas

NO tires

NO auto batteries

NO fuel tanks

NO car engines

NO needles or razors

 

 

ITEMS THAT ARE NOT ACCEPTED:

Un-bagged trash

Construction debris

Stumps or brush

Fluorescent lights

Demolition debris

Tires

Auto batteries

Liquid paint, oil or fuel

Unopened fuel containers

Propane tanks of any kind
